How the Application Process Works

Stage 1: Apply online. Submit your application digitally through the official portal. The file is first reviewed by an operator that assesses whether you qualify as a talent. If you are approved, that clearance stays valid for one year, during which you must file your immigration application. Filing on the portal is reported to be free.

Stage 2: Enter Russia and apply for residency. Approved applicants and their families receive a multiple-entry business visa valid for up to one year. Once in Russia you apply to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) for a three-year TRP or, for some applicants, direct permanent residence. Authorities describe a typical review of about 30 days, and the Interior Ministry stage can take up to 60 days in some cases.
